Russell Wilson went 16 for 21 for 192 yards and two TD’s as the Seahawks beat the Cowboys 27-17 in NFL Pre-Season football last night…..The Mariners gave up a 6-3 lead and lost to the Chicago White Sox 7-6 last night. Felix Hernandez goes up against Chris Sale in a big-time pitching matchup today, KLOG 4:00 pm…..The R.A. Long football Red-Black scrimmage is at 7 pm tonight at Longview Memorial Stadium. The Kelso Blue-Gold game is tomorrow morning at 10 am. The MM Blue-White scrimmage is tomorrow morning at 9 am…..The LCC volleyball team has six matches over Saturday and Sunday at the NWAC Fall Festival in Eugene. The LCC soccer team is also in Eugene with games Saturday and Sunday.

The Yankees blanked the Mariners 5-0 yesterday. New York took two of three games in Seattle. The Mariners head out on a seven game road trip including four in Chicago starting today, KLOG 4:00 pm. James Paxton will pitch for Seattle against the White Sox. The M’s are three out of the final AL Wildcard, 6 1/2 games behind AL West leading Texas…..The Seahawks host the Dallas Cowboys in NFL Pre-Season action tonight. Rookie Ezekiel Elliot makes his debut for the Cowboys…..The Wahkiakum School Board will allow 8th graders to play varsity football this season. The Mules had just 18 players out for football. The WIAA allows school with enrollment under 104 to play 8th graders…..The Sounders got a stoppage time goal by Nicolas Lodiero to get a 1-1 tie at Houston last night.

CC Sabathia pitched seven strong innings and Jacoby Ellsbury hit a two-run homer as the New York Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners 5-1 last night. The Yankees held the M’s to just four hits in the game. There will be high interest in Japan today as Hisashi Iwakuma of the Mariners pitches against Masahiro Tanaka of the Yanks, KLOG 11:30 am…..Rookie RB C.J. Prosise is set to make his Seahawks debut tomorrow night when Seattle hosts the Dallas Cowboys in NFL Pre-Season action. Prosise has been battling a hamstring injury…..Scott Witt passed away earlier this month at the age of 94. Witt was a talented multi-sport athlete at R.A. Long (1940) including a two-time state champion high jumper. He went on to WSU where he was assistant A.D. for four years.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored four runs in the top of the 9th inning to shock the Mariners 7-6 yesterday. The M’s gave young closer Edwin Diaz the day off and Tom Wilhelmsen couldn’t close it. The Mariners also had defensive lapses that contributed to the loss. Seattle hosts the New York Yankees tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Clint Dempsey scored two goals to lead the Seattle Sounders to a 3-1 win over the Portland Timbers. Seattle is within two points of the Timbers in the chase for the playoffs. The teams will play again next Sunday in Portland…..The Washington Huskies are ranked #14 in the AP Pre-Season College Football Poll. Oregon is ranked #24. Alabama is ranked #1 going into the season.

The Vikings defeated the Seahawks 18-11 in NFL Pre-Season action last night. With the score tied and just two minutes left, Trevoyne Boykin was intercepted by Marcus Sherels and he returned it 53 yards for the decisive score. The Hawks are 1-1 as they host the Dallas Cowboys next Thursday night……The L.A. Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 6-4 last night. The big hit was a two-run double by Albert Pujols in the 8th inning. The M’s got homers from Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz and Adam Lind. Seattle is home tonight against Milwaukee, KLOG 6:00 pm. The M’s are 2 1/2 games behind Boston for the second AL Wild Card spot…..The Mint Valley Golf Course is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a fun scramble event at 4 pm this afternoon.

Kyle Seager made a spectacular diving play and throw to preserve the Mariners 4-3 win over the L.A. Angels last night. Seager’s play allowed Edwin Diaz to get the save and the M’s the win, their 10th victory in 12 games. The M’s and Halos play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Seahawks host the Minnesota Vikings in NFL Pre-Season action tonight. Kickoff is at 7 pm…..Ken Arverson and Mick LaBerge teamed up to win the 60-65 division at the 3rd annual Mint Valley Senior Open yesterday. The winning total was 66. The teams of Jeff Wilcox/Mike Ward and Ross Newhall/Rick Bryant tied for low net (55). In the 66-plus division, Mike Ellsworth and Al Huffman were winners with a 67. Rick Parker/Joe McGreevy tied Tom Gilles/Henry Brusco for low net (57).

The Mariner bullpen struggled last night as the Angels came from behind twice to beat Seattle 7-6. The Halos snapped an 11-game losing streak. The teams play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Corvallis Knights won the West Coast League championship with a 6-4 win over Bellingham last night. The Cowlitz Black Bears have hired head coach Grady Tweit to an additional full time role as Director of Baseball Operations. Tweit leaves as head coach for Skagit Valley…..Today is the first day of high school football practice in the state of Washington. Local teams will be dealing with excessive heat this week…..The LCC women’s soccer team is playing three mini games at the Clark College Jamboree in Vancouver today. The Devils play at 10 am, 11 am and 2 pm.

Nelson Cruz hit his 30th homer and Felix Hernandez got the victory as the Mariners beat the Angels 3-2 last night. Seattle has won nine of 10 while the Halos have lost 11 straight. They play again tonight in Anaheim, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Bellingham has forced a final deciding game in the WCL championship series with a 5-2 win at Corvallis last night. The winner-take-all game is tonight at 6:40 pm, also in Corvallis…..The Seahawks have brought back defensive tackle Tony McDaniel, who was a starter on the Hawks recent Super Bowl teams. He was released last summer and played for Tampa Bay……Former Seahawks great Kenny Easley was selected as a finalist for the 2017 Hall of Fame by the Seniors Committee. 18 finalists are vying for selection which will be announced in February.

The Mariners have won 8 out of 9 games after an 8-4 victory over the Oakland A’s on Sunday. Kyle Seager had two doubles and four RBI’s to lead the way. The M’s are within 5 1/2 games of AL-West leading Texas as they begin a series against the Angels tonight in Anaheim, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Nicolas Lodiero scored a goal and added an assist as the Seattle Sounders defeated Real Salt Lake 2-1 yesterday. Saturday, the Timbers lost 2-0 at DC United…..Also Saturday, Trevoyne Boykin engineered a last minute drive to get the Seahawks a 17-16 NFL Pre-Season win at Kansas City. Boykin hit Tanner McEvoy with a 37-yard TD pass with no time left then handed the ball to Troymaine Pope for the winning two-point conversion. The Hawks host the Vikings Thursday night.

The Mariners take a six game win streak to Oakland tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm. The M’s are one game behind Boston for the final AL Wild Card spot going into action tonight. Ariel Miranda gets the start for Seattle tonight…..The Seahawks open the NFL Pre-Season with a game at the Kansas City Chiefs tomorrow afternoon. Kick off is 1:30 pm…..The Washington Huskies will open practice to the public on Saturday as they continue to get ready for the season. Sports Illustrated ranked the Huskies #7 in it’s College Football edition this week…..The NBA unveiled the regular season schedule yesterday and the Trail Blazers will open at home October 25 against the Jazz. The first of four meetings with Golden State is November 1 at Moda Center.
