The Seahawks beat the 49’ers 37-18 yesterday as the Hawks offense got into gear. There is concern over a knee injury to Russell Wilson, who will undergo further examination today. The Hawks are at the Jets Sunday…..Nelson Cruz hit two homers to lead the Mariners to a 4-3 win over the Twins. The M’s are 2 1/2 games out of the Wildcard as they begin a three game set at Houston today, KLOG 4:00 pm…..Former Kelso High, LCC and fast pitch great Tim Norton passed away Saturday morning at the age of 74. Norton suffered a heart attack while at the wheel of his car on 15h Avenue. He was one of the greats during the fast pitch glory days in the 60’s…..Services are today for Wally Whitted, 90, who recently passed away. He coached Monticello to great success in football.

Long…..The LCC volleyball team hosts Grays Harbor tonight at 7 pm…..In prep volleyball last night, River beat MM 3-0 and Washougal downed RAL 3-1. MM hosts the Monarch Challenge all day Saturday at MM and LCC…..In prep soccer, Abby Anderson’s OT goal gave RAL a 1-0 win at Washougal, Kaylee Murray with three goals as Kelso blanked Bay 6-0 and River beat MM 3-0…..The LCC soccer team hosts Bellevue Saturday at 12 pm…..The Huskies are at Arizona tomorrow night at 7:30 pm, FM 101.5 The Wave.

Robinson Cano hit a 12th inning sacrifice fly to give the Mariners a 2-1 win over the Blue Jays. Felix Hernandez pitched great in a seven inning no decision. Edwin Diaz gave up a 9th inning homer in blowing the save. The M’s have today off before a three game set at Minnesota. They are two games out of the Wildcard chase…..The LCC volleyball team blew a 2-0 lead and lost the league opener at Pierce 3-2. The Devils host Grays Harbor Friday night at 7 pm…..Centralia defeated LCC 3-1 in women’s soccer last night. The Devils host Bellevue at 12 pm Saturday…..In prep volleyball tonight, R.A. Long is at Washougal and Mark Morris hosts Columbia River, both at 7 pm…..In girls soccer today, River is at MM (5 pm), RAL at Washougal (6 pm) and Kelso at Hudson’s Bay (7 pm).

The Mariners try and avoid a sweep at the hands of the Blue Jays today. Toronto beat Seattle 10-2 last night. Hisashi Iwakuma took the loss and J.A. Happ won his 20th game for the Jays. The M’s remain three games out of the wildcard chase as Felix Hernandez pitches in a day game today, KLOG 11:30 am…..The 4th ranked LCC volleyball team opens West Region play tonight in Lakewood against Pierce, 7 pm…..In prep volleyball last night, Woodland swept R.A. Long 3-0…..The LCC women’s soccer team has a rare night match tonight as they travel to Centralia, 7 pm…..In high school girls soccer, Kelso and Heritage battled to a 0-0 tie, R.A. Long defeated Woodland 3-1 and Black Hills shutout Mark Morris 2-0.

Toronto got a great pitching performance from Marco Estrada in a 3-2 win over the Mariners last night. Robinson Cano broke up Estrada’s no-hit bid in the 7th inning. J.A Happ goes for his 20th win tonight against Hisashi Iwakuma, KLOG 6:00 pm. The Jays lead the M’s by three games in the Wildcard chase…..The NFL has fined Pete Carroll $200,000 and the team $400,000 for violating off-season workout rules. The Hawks also lose a 5th round draft pick…..In boys golf, Damon Temanson fired a 38 to lead Kelso over Ridgefield and Zach Kochis led R.A. Long to a win over Washougal. MM hosts Woodland today…..In volleyball tonight, RAL is at Woodland at 7 pm…..In girls soccer, Heritage is at Kelso (7 pm), RAL at Woodland (7 pm) and MM hosts Black Hills at Northlake (5 pm).

The Rams won a regular season game in Los Angeles for the first time in nearly 22 years yesterday. L.A. beat the Seahawks 9-3 in a game dominated by defense. The 1-1 Hawks have lost to the Rams for the third straight time…..Seth Smith hit two homers and drove in four runs to lead the Mariners to a 7-3 victory over Houston on Sunday. The M’s are one game behind Toronto in the race for the final wild card spot and the teams will play in Seattle tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Haylee Briggs scored a goal at the 11 minute mark and the LCC Red Devils made it hold up in a 1-0 women’s soccer win over Grays Harbor in Aberdeen on Sunday…..The Huskies beat Portland State to go to 3-0 on the season but the Dawgs slipped a spot to #9 in both the AP and Coaches Poll.

Football Friday begins at 6 pm on the Wave…..The Huskies host Portland State at 5 pm tomorrow, FM 101.5 The Wave at 4:00 pm…..The Mariners are riding an eight game win streak as they host the Astros tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Kaylee Murray had three goals to lead Kelso to a 4-3 soccer win over Heritage last night. R.A. Long nearly pulled off a huge upset but Ridgefield scored late to win 3-2. Hockinson beat MM 3-1…..Former MM star Marv Chamberlain gets inducted into the WSU Hall of Fame tonight.

The Mariners have won eight straight after a 2-1 victory over the Angels last night. Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager hit homers to back winning pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma. Seattle is now 1 1/2 games out of the wildcard race as they take today off…..Linn Benton stayed unbeaten, but lost a set for the first time this season as they defeated the LCC volleyball team 3-1 last night…..In prep volleyball tonight, Heritage is at Kelso (5:30 pm) and 7 pm matchups include Ridgefield at R.A. Long and Mark Morris at Hockinson…..Tacoma scored on a late penalty kick to defeat the LCC women’s soccer team 2-1. Emily McCoy had the goal for the Red Devils…..In girls prep soccer tonight, Ridgefield is at R.A. Long (6 pm) and Mark Morris is at Hockinson (7 pm).
