Gonzaga took it to the Washington Huskies 98-71 in men’s college hoops last night. Former Husky, now Zag, Nigel Williams-Goss had 23 points…..The LCC women’s team defeated Portland 68-50 last night as Madison Crews had 20 points to lead the Devils…..In girls hoops, W.F. West raced to a 85-41 win at R.A. Long…..The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Portland Trail Blazers 115-107 last night. Damian Lillard had 30 in the loss. The Blazers play at Memphis tonight, KLOG 4:05 pm…..The Mariners acquired pitcher Chris Heston from the Giants for a player to be named later. Heston will compete for a spot in the M’s rotation…..In girls bowling yesterday, Kelso defeated R.A. Long 1,953-1,873 and it was Hudson’s Bay over Mark Morris 1,952-1,635.

The University of Oregon will announce South Florida’s Willie Taggart as the Ducks new head football coach. Taggart previously was an assistant at Stanford…..Cameron Cranston scored 36 points and hit the game winner at the buzzer in OT to give Union a 77-75 win over Mark Morris. Will Burghardt had 28 for MM. Also, Riley Noah had 21 to lead Kelso over W. F. West 71-46 and R.A. Long beat Rainier 61-59 as Coby Rothwell had 18 for the Jacks…..In girls play, Kelso defeated Ridgefield 57-47 as Jordyn Dole had 22. Tonight, W.F. West plays at R.A. Long…..The LCC women’s basketball team plays at Portland tonight at 6 pm…..The Portland Trail Blazers continue its five game road trip with a game at Milwaukee today, KLOG 4:05 pm.

Damian Lillard scored 30 points to lead Portland to a 112-110 victory over the Bulls in Chicago. The Blazers five game road trip moves on to Milwaukee against the Bucks on Wednesday…..The Seahawks confirmed that Earl Thomas will miss the rest of the season with a broken leg. Thomas told ESPN that he won’t have surgery and retirement is still a possibility…..In girls basketball, Rainier edged R.A. Long 51-46 in overtime. Desirae Hanson led the Columbians with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Tonight, Kelso is at Ridgefield and Mark Morris at Skyview…..In boys hoops tonight, Kelso is at home against W.F. West, KLOG 6:55 pm. Also, Union visits Mark Morris and Rainier is at R.A. Long…..The Mark Morris wrestling team travels to Hockinson tonight.

The Huskies got the coveted number four spot in the College Football Playoff as they will play top-ranked Alabama in the Peach Bowl December 31st in Atlanta…..The Seahawks destroyed the Panthers 40-7 last night as Thomas Rawls rushed for 103 yards and two TD’s. The game was marred by the broken leg on safety Earl Thomas. The Hawks play at Green Bay next…..The Blazers take on the Bulls in Chicago today, KLOG 4:05 pm…..Keun Palu-Thompson had a triple-double leading LCC to a 91-82 win over Chemeketa on Sunday. Devin Johnson added 26 points…..In girls hoops tonight, R.A. Long will make the short trip to Rainier to play the Columbians at 6 pm, weather permitting.

The Pac-12 football championship game is tonight at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, KLOG 5:00 pm. The Huskies can possibly get a College Football Playoff berth, while Colorado can clinch a Rose Bowl berth…..The Kelso Lassies defeated the R.A. Long Lumberjills 58-42 last night. Kylee Gibbs had 16 points and 18 rebounds…..Tonight, it’s the Kelso boys at R.A. Long and Mark Morris hosts Hudson’s Bay (FM 101.5 The Wave at 6:45 pm)…..The LCC basketball team hosts four college game this weekend including LCC versus Umpqua at 8 pm Saturday night and LCC against Chemeketa at 4 pm Sunday…..The Three Rivers Wrestling Classic is at Mark Morris beginning tomorrow morning at 9 am. MM, RAL, Kelso and other local teams will be on hand.

WSU beat Utah Valley State 83-76 and Oregon took care of Western Oregon 93-54…..The Lower Columbia College women’s basketball team held off Clark 67-61 last night. Madison Lord had 13 to lead the Devils. LCC is 3-1 on the season…..Kelso hosts R.A. Long in girls high school hoops tonight, KLOG 6:55 pm…..The Greater St. Helens boys swimming jamboree is today at Mark Morris, a 5 pm start at Dick Mealy Pool…..49’ers head coach Chip Kelly is quoted as saying he has no interest in returning to Eugene after his successor Mark Helfrich was fired as coach of the Oregon Ducks.

Oregon head football coach Mark Helfrich has been fired after four seasons. Despite overall success, a 4-8 season cost him his job. The search is on for a new head coach…..The Huskies are #4 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings as they get ready to play Colorado in the Pac-12 championship game Friday night. QB Jake Browning was named the conference offensive player of the year…..The Blazers host Nate McMillian and the Indiana Pacers tonight, KLOG 6:05 pm…..The LCC women’s basketball team host Clark tonight at 6 pm…..In girls hoops last night, Ilwaco edged R.A. Long 53-50…..Kelso went 2-0 and Mark Morris 1-1 at the 5-team boys jamboree last night at MM…..In wrestling action tonight, R.A. Long is at Castle Rock at 6 pm.

High school basketball is underway this week with jamborees and stand alone games. Last night R.A. Long hosted a boys and girls jamboree and Mark Morris will host one tonight at 6:30 featuring five teams including the Monarchs and Kelso…..In college hoops last night, Oregon rallied to beat Boise State 68-63 and Oregon State blew out Southern Oregon 84-59…..The Mariners are looking for starting pitching after trading Taijuan Walker last week. The M’s acquired pitchers Rob Whalen and Max Povse from Atlanta for former first round pick Alex Jackson…..The Huskies will find out where they land in the second to last College Football Playoff rankings released this evening. UW is hoping for #4 which could mean a spot in the final four with a win over Colorado Friday night.

Tampa Bay held the Seahawks offense in check as the Buccaneers beat the Hawks 14-5 yesterday. Seattle’s three game win streak is snapped as they come home to host Carolina on Sunday…..The Huskies are ranked #4 in the AP college football poll after a big Apple Cup win last Friday. The Dawgs will play Colorado this Friday in the Pac-12 championship game…..James Harden scored 38 points to lead Houston to a 130-114 win over Portland last night…..Mt. Hood defeated Lower Columbia 85-67 yesterday in the final day of the Red Devil Classic. LCC drops to 2-2 on the season…..Gonzaga held on to beat Iowa State 73-71 at Advocare tournament in Florida…..Seattle beat Colorado 1-0 to advance to the MLS Cup soccer championship December 10th.
