The Mariners held on for an 8-7 win over the Colorado Rockies last night. Felix Hernandez got the win and Nelson Cruz hit his 30th homer. The M’s and Rockies play again tonight, KLOG 4:30 pm…..The Cowlitz Black Bears open the final home series of the season tonight as the Bellingham Bells come to Longview for three games. The game at Story Field begins at 6:35 pm…..Kam Chancellor continues his holdout as he missed Seahawks practice yesterday. The safety is looking to get more money on a restructured contract. The Hawks continue training camp today…..It’s long been a popular way for local kids to get introduced to golf. The Mint Valley Junior City tournament begins today and runs four days. To get your kid involved, call the Mint Valley Golf Course.

The Mariners beat the Twins 4-1 in 11 innings on Sunday. Seattle is in Denver to play the Rockies tonight, KLOG 4:30 pm. Felix Hernandez will pitch for the M’s…..Glacier Montana defeated Longview 10-6 in the semi-final of the Babe Ruth 15 Regional in The Dalles. Glacier went on to win the tournament and will play in the World Series in Tennessee…..Yakima Valley shutout Cowlitz 2-0 in West Coast League action on Sunday. The Bears only hit was a double by LCC’s Lorin Archibald. The Bears have a day off before hosting Bellingham tomorrow night…..The Seahawks added depth to the secondary by acquiring cornerback Mohammed Seisay from the Lions for a 2016 draft pick. The Hawks also released starting DT Tony McDaniel in a salary cap move.

Russell Wilson has signed a 4-year, $87.6 million contract with the Seahawks, just hours before the first practice session today. Wilson’s deal includes $60 million guaranteed…..The Twins beat the Mariners 9-5 yesterday. Kelso’s Trevor May pitched a scoreless 8th inning for the Twins. The teams play again today, KLOG 4:00 pm…..Victoria beat Cowlitz 8-3 yesterday. The Black Bears are home tonight against Yakima Valley, 6:05 pm. Cort Carpenter will play a post game concert at Story Field…..The Longview 15’s pounded Union County 18-7 at the Regionals in The Dalles. Longview has today off before playing two games on Saturday…..The 14th Cowlitz Kickoff Classic soccer tournament begins today and through the weekend at 7th Avenue Park.

The M’s are at Minnesota tonight, KLOG 4:00 pm…..Chris Castellanos got the win and Lars Rider the save as the Cowlitz Black Bears beat Victoria 5-3 last night. The teams play a 1:00 pm game today…..FM Sports defeated Rightline Equipment 10-0 at the State Junior Legion tournament, ending Rightline’s season…..Zach Brown tossed a one-hitter and had two hits in Longview’s 11-0 win over Columbia Basin at the Babe Ruth 15 Regional in the The Dalles. Longview plays Union County at 2:00 pm today…..The Kelso 14’s lost to West Linn 13-5, ending their season at the Regional in Lewiston, Idaho…..The Seahawks report to camp today. The first practice is tomorrow.

Arizona defeated Seattle 8-4 last night. The Diamondbacks go for the sweep in a day game today, KLOG 11:30 am. Felix Hernandez pitches for the Mariners…..Victoria beat Cowlitz 15-4 last night, the Black Bears 6th straight WCL loss. The Bears and Harbourcats play again tonight in B.C…..Rightline Equipment shutout Walla Walla 3-0 to stay alive at the State Junior Legion tournament in Olympia. Cody Anderson pitched a four hitter. Rightline plays FM Sports at 3 pm today at Capital HS…..Play is underway at the Babe Ruth 15 Regional in The Dalles. Longview is playing Columbia Basin at 11:30 am. Meanwhile, the Kelso 14’s are 0-3 at the Babe Ruth 14 Regional in Lewiston Idaho. Kelso completes pool play with a game today against North Oregon.

Seattle native Jake Lamb hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning to give the Arizona Diamondbacks a 4-3 win over the Mariners. The teams play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Cowlitz Black Bears snapped a five game losing streak with a 6-3 non-league win over the NWCL All-Stars. The Bears begin a three game set at Victoria tonight…..Rightline Equipment defeated Hilander Dental 10-0 at the State Junior Legion tournament in Olympia. Rightline plays again at 6 pm tonight at Capital HS. Hilander’s season ends with over 30 wins this summer…..The Kelso Babe Ruth 14’s are 0-3 in pool play after a 13-7 loss to Lewiston at the Regional tournament last night. Kelso has an off day today…..The Longview 15’s begin play at Regionals tomorrow morning in The Dalles.

Franklin Gutierrez hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 10th inning giving the Mariners a 6-5 win over Toronto. The M’s host the Diamondbacks tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Kitsap completed a weekend sweep of the Cowlitz Black Bears with a 5-0 victory on Sunday. The Bears host the NW Collegiate Baseball League All-Stars in a 6:35 pm non-league game tonight at Story Field…..Pacific Tech lost to Spokane 2-0 on Saturday and were eliminated from the Senior Legion State tournament…..Yesterday at the Junior Legion State tournament, Capital defeated Hilander Dental 3-1 and Rightline Equipment stayed alive with a 10-7 win over Asotin. The two local teams play each other in a loser out game today at 3 pm at Capital HS.

Cowlitz opens a three game series at home tonight against Kitsap, 6:35 pm at Story Field…..The senior legion tourney opens today in Bellingham with Pacific Tech playing Kennewick today at 1 pm…..The Kelso 12’s are 2-0 at the Cal Ripken Regional in Idaho. Kelso beat Meridian 12-4 and Miles City, MT 18-6. Kelso plays Whatcom at 11:30 am today…..Both local WA Illusion softball teams were eliminated at the ASA 18U Gold tourney in Hillsboro yesterday…..The Washougal Nationals are this weekend with the Lucas Oil Motocross championships tomorrow.

The Detroit Tigers scored eight runs in the third inning and went on for a 9-4 win over Seattle. Nelson Cruz had two homers for the Mariners…..Cal Neely had a no-hitter through six innings, but the Corvallis Knights rallied in the 7th to beat Neely and the Black Bears 3-2. The teams close out the series tonight in Corvallis…..Maui, Hawaii shutout Lewis River 15-0 at the Little League Senior regional in California. Lewis River Plays Nevada today…..The Kelso 12’s take on host Meridian at 11:30 am today in action at the Cal Ripken regionals in Idaho…..The two local Washington Illusion teams had tough losses at the ASA 18U Gold Nationals in Hillsboro. The Julie Harris coached Illusion lost to the Oregon Blaze 4-3 and the Lou Mendez coached Illusion lost to the Sacramento Breeze 5-2.
