Super Bowl 50 will feature the Carolina Panthers against the Denver Broncos. Carolina beat Arizona 49-15 and Denver beat New England 20-18…..Utah beat Washington 80-75 in OT to knock the Huskies out of first in the Pac-12. Also, Oregon State upset USC 85-70…..Both LCC teams are 5-0 in league after wins at Centralia Saturday night. The Devils will host Grays Harbor Wednesday night…..In girls hoops tonight, Centralia is at Kelso, KLOG 6:55 pm. Also, R.A. Long is at Washougal and Mark Morris visits Hockinson…..In wrestling Saturday, RAL took second in it’s own Lumberjack Classic. Kelso was 5th at the Spokane Dream Duals. Castle Rock won the Gorge Classic in Stevenson. Kalama was second at their own Rubber Chicken Classic.

St. Mary’s rallied in the second half to beat Gonzaga 70-67 in a key WCC game last night. Also, Utah beat WSU 92-71…..In boys prep hoops, Mark Morris exacted revenge with a 60-56 win at Woodland last night. Tonight, the Kelso Hilanders are at Black Hills, KLOG 6:55 pm…..In girls play, Camas defeated the Kelso Lassies 63-21. Tonight, Woodland is at Mark Morris, 6:45 pm on FM 101.5 The Wave…..The Kelso wrestling team dominated Fort Vancouver 68-6 last night. Tomorrow, Kelso is at the Emerald Ridge tournament. The Lumberjack Classic is tomorrow and so is the Rubber Chicken Classic in Kalama…..The Mariners Caravan is in town today as new acquired starter Nathan Karns, reliever Tony Zych and broadcaster Rick Rizzs will be at the LCC Gym at 4:15 pm today.

Atlanta held off Portland 104-98 in NBA action last night…..The UW Huskies sit atop the Pac-12 after a 95-83 win over Colorado last night…..A big showdown in the WCC tonight as Gonzaga visits St. Mary’s…..The LCC basketball teams swept Highline last night. The LCC women rally from 16 down at halftime to beat the T-Birds 57-51. The LCC men beat Highline 75-60. Both teams are 4-0 in league with games at Centralia Saturday…..Columbia River downed Kelso 66-46 in boys hoop last night. Tonight, MM is at Woodland at 7 pm, FM 101.5 The Wave 6:45 pm…..The Kelso Lassies are at Camas tonight and the R.A. Long Lumberjills visit River…..Kelso hosts Fort Vancouver in prep wrestling tonight. R.A. Long is at home against MM, Woodland and Ridgefield.

The Blazers host the Atlanta Hawks tonight at Moda Center, KLOG 6:35 pm…..The Huskies are at home against Colorado tonight while UCLA plays at Oregon State…..The LCC basketball teams take unbeaten league marks to South Seattle for matchups at Highline. The women play at 6 pm and the men go at 8 pm…..In boys hoops last night, Mark Morris beat Hudson’s Bay 63-55 and R.A. Long was a 63-46 winner over Hockinson. Tonight, the Kelso boys host Columbia River…..In girls hoops, MM blasted Bay 70-21 and Hockinson defeated R.A. Long 65-47…..Washington has named Jennifer Cohen as the interim athletic director, replacing Scott Woodward who left for Texas A & M. Cohen has worked in the UW athletic department for 15 years.

C.J. McCollum scored 25 to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 108-98 victory over the Washington Wizards. The Hawks visit Portland Wednesday…..The Mark Morris boys came up with a 64-57 win over Clover Park in the inaugural LCC Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute yesterday. Will Burghardt led MM with 25 points. Also, it was the MM girls over Kelso 55-39 as Brooke Walling had 16 points and Libby Bartleson added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Also last night at the MLK, Union defeated Grant 74-68…..In girls play tonight, Kelso hosts Columbia River (KLOG 6:55 pm), Hudson’s Bay at MM and Hockinson at R.A. Long. In boys play tonight, Mark Morris is at Bay (FM 101.5 The Wave) and RAL visits Hockinson.

The Seahawks attempt to rally from a 31-0 deficit fell just short as the Carolina Panthers held on for a 31-24 victory. The Panthers move onto the NFC championship while the Hawks move on to a challenging off season. Several players are free agents and others are looking to get paid…..The Blazers have a day game at Washington today, KLOG 10:05 am…..It’s a full day of high school hoops at LCC’s Myklebust Gymnasium. The MLK Tribute features five games. Black Hills and Mountlake Terrace play a boys game at 12 pm followed by the Wenatchee boys against Columbia River at 2 pm. At 4 pm, the Mark Morris girls play the Kelso Lassies followed by the MM boys against Clover Park at 6 pm, both on FM 101.5 The Wave. Finally, the boys game Union versus Grant at 8 pm.

The Blazers take on the Nets in Brooklyn today, KLOG 3:35 pm…..Arizona beat Washington 99-67 in Pac-12 play. BYU upset Gonzaga 69-8 in Spokane for the second straight season…..The LCC hoop teams host Green River Saturday with the women at 5 pm and the men at 7 pm…..It’s Civil War time! The girls and boys battles are both at MM with the Jills and Monarchs at 6 pm and the Jacks and Kings at 7:30 pm, both on FM 101.5 The Wave. Also tonight, the Kelso boys host Prairie. Last night Prairie beat the Kelso girls 68-38…..Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch and TE Luke Willson were both at practice yesterday as we get closer to Sunday’s playoff game at Carolina…..Tryouts for the LC Legion baseball A team will be Monday at 5:30 in the LCC Batting Barn.

Damian Lillard had 21 points and 10 assists to lead the Trail Blazers over Utah 99-85 last night…..Lawrence Russell had 30 points in LCC’s 79-75 victory over Tacoma. Seven LCC women players scored in double figures as the Devils beat Tacoma 93-62. Both LCC teams are 2-0 in league as they get ready to host Green River Saturday…..Kelso beat Fort Vancouver 58-47 in boys prep hoops. Riley Noah had 23 for the Scots. Also, R.A. Long edged Woodland 36-34 and Mark Morris beat Washougal 67-42. MM hosts RAL in Civil War play tomorrow night…..In girls play, MM beat Washougal 56-54 and Woodland turned away RAL 67-28. Tonight, the Kelso Lassies host Prairie, KLOG 6:55 pm.

The Blazers host the Utah Jazz tonight, KLOG 6:05 pm…..It’s the league home opener for the LCC Red Devils tonight as they host Tacoma, women at 6 pm and the men at 8 pm…..The Kelso wrestling team dominated Columbia River 72-6 last night…..The Kelso Lassies won their league opener last night defeating Fort Vancouver 39-27. Tonight in girls hoops, Woodland is at R.A. Long and Washougal at Mark Morris…..In boys basketball tonight, Kelso hosts Fort, RAL at Woodland and MM at Washougal (FM 101.5 The Wave 6:45 pm)…..Although not set in stone yet, it appears that Columbia River will be leaving the GSHL 3A league to join the GSHL 2A next season. Kalama is also set to drop to 2B and join the Central 2B league.

Alabama wins a 4th college football championship in seven years with a 45-40 victory over Clemson last night…..Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is taking a much more cautious approach when talking about the possibility that Marshawn Lynch could be available to play against the Panthers on Sunday. TE Luke Willson is expected to be cleared after a concussion…..Riley Noah scored 25 points to lead Kelso over Heritage 57-47 last night. R.A. Long came up with a 50-41 win over Ridgefield…..In girls play, Kelso beat Heritage 52-34 as Ally Harman had 18. Ridgefield beat the RAL Jills 52-44. Tonight, Kelso travels to Fort Vancouver, KLOG 6:55 pm…..The Kelso wrestling team hosts Columbia River at 7 pm tonight.
