Nelson Cruz hit an 8th inning homer to give the Mariners a 3-1 victory over Detroit last night. Felix Hernandez and Justin Verlander dueled through seven innings, each with a no decision. The M’s complete the sweep and have won six straight games. They are off today…..Corvallis eliminated Yakima Valley and Bellingham ousted Victoria in the WCL playoffs last night. The Bells and Knights meet for the championship…..Six NFL Pre-Season games scheduled for tonight but the Seahawks don’t play until Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Hawks welcomed TE Jimmy Graham back to practice yesterday after his serious knee injury last season…..Close to 12,000 people will be at Key Arena in Seattle this weekend for the Dota 2 international video game tournament.

The Mariners outlasted the Tigers 6-5 in 15 innings last night. Kyle Seager’s three-run homer in the 8th tied it and his RBI single in the 15th also tied it. Mike Zunino’s sacrifice fly drove in the game winner. Seattle has won five straight games and they look for the sweep tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm. It’s a marquee pitching matchup that features Felix Hernandez against Justin Verlander…..Thomas Rawls made his return to Seahawks practice yesterday as he comes back from last season’s broken ankle. The Hawks will take it slow with Rawls and he is not expected to play in the Hawks first pre-season game Saturday against Kansas City. TE Jimmy Graham is reportedly close to making his return to active practice at training camp…..The UW Huskies will open today’s football practice to the public.

Hisashi Iwakuma had another great outing last night as the Mariners blanked the Tigers 3-0. Iwakuma went seven shutout innings and won his 8th straight start at Safeco Field, a team record. Seattle is now 2 1/2 games behind the Tigers and Red Sox for the last Wildcard spot. The Tigers and M’s play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Former Mariners pitcher Rob Ramsay passed away yesterday after a battle with cancer. He played his college ball at WSU. Another former Cougar also passed away yesterday after battling cancer as George Yarno died. Yarno was a longtime player and coach in the NFL…..Football practice sessions for the UW Huskies and WSU Cougars continue this week. The Huskies will open Wednesday’s practice to the public.

The Mariners completed a three game sweep of the Angels with a 3-1 victory yesterday. James Paxton dominated until he was struck in the elbow by a line drive in the 9th inning. Seattle hosts the Detroit Tigers tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Cowlitz Black Bears closed the season with a 3-1 victory over Corvallis. The Bears went 23-31 in the WCL season this summer…..Portland beat Sporting Kansas City 3-0 in MLS action yesterday. Clint Dempsey scored three goals in the Sounders 3-1 win over Orlando City…..Four Timber Baron girls teams won titles at the Cowlitz Kickoff Classic soccer tourney over the weekend. One Timber Baron boys team also won…..The Seattle Seahawks signed former New Orleans Saints all-pro guard Jahri Evans.

The 15th Cowlitz Kickoff Classic youth soccer tournament gets underway this afternoon with 46 teams and close to 800 players in town. Action goes through Sunday at 7th Avenue Park…..The Red Sox outlasted the Mariners 3-2 in 11 innings last night as the teams split the four game set. The Angels are in for three starting tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm. Ken Griffey Junior will have his Mariners number retired tomorrow night…..Corvallis visits Cowlitz in the WCL regular season finales this weekend. Games at Story Field tonight and Saturday at 6:35 pm and 7:05 on Sunday…..The Huskies are ranked #18 in the USA Today Football Coaches Pre-Season Poll, the Dawgs highest pre-season ranking since 2003. The Oregon Ducks are ranked #22.

Nelson Cruz, Mike Zunino and Adam Lind all hit solo homers in the Mariners 3-1 win over the Boston Red Sox last night. Hisashi Iwakuma got the win and Edwin Diaz collected his second save. The M’s and Sox close out the four game set tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Cowlitz Black Bears beat Yakima Valley for the first time ever last night. The Bears scored four runs in the 8th inning to pull out a 6-3 win, snapping a seven game losing streak. Weston Hatten had three hits to lead the way. The Bears are off today before hosting Corvallis in the final three games of the season this weekend…..Seahawk Brandon Browner will not be charged after an allegation that he punched his girlfriend’s father during an altercation in Southern California.

Robinson Cano’s three run homer capped a five run 8th inning, giving the Mariners a 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox. Edwin Diaz struck out the side in the 9th to get his first major league save. The M’s and Sox play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Yakima Valley defeated Cowlitz 8-1 in West Coast League action last night. The Black Bears have lost seven straight games as they play the final road tilt of the season tonight in Yakima. The Bears take tomorrow off before hosting Corvallis in the final three games of the season this weekend…..The Seahawks are taking today off at training camp. The squad moved indoors yesterday due to thunderstorm concerns…..AP has released its all-time college football poll. Washington is ranked #20. WSU is at #59. Ohio State is #1 all-time.

Mookie Betts hit a 9th inning homer off Steve Cishek to give the Boston Red Sox a 2-1 victory over Seattle. James Paxton pitched well but gave up a homer to Rich Hill in the 8th. The M’s and Red Sox play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm. Wade LeBlanc goes against David Price…..The Cowlitz Black Bears were knocked out of playoff contention when they lost to Yakima Valley 6-3 last night. The Bears have lost six straight and they are 0-7 all time against the Pippins. The teams play again tonight in Yakima…..Seahawks training camp continues today in Renton. One of the highlights yesterday was a heated one-on-one drill between veteran Michael Bennett and rookie Germain Ifedi, both former Texas A&M players.

Cubs pitcher Jon Lester’s 12th inning pinch-hit, two-strike squeeze bunt plated the winning run in a 7-6 win over the Mariners. The M’s were ahead 6-0 and blew a 6-3 lead in the 9th. Nelson Cruz, Robinson Cano and Dae Ho Lee each hit homers. The M’s are home to play the Red Sox tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Walla Walla completed a weekend sweep with a 10-1 win over the Cowlitz Black Bears last night. The Bears play at Yakima Valley tonight…..Kelso took third at the Babe Ruth 15 Regional in Camas, won by Ephrata. The Ephrata team eliminated Kelso 3-0 in the semi-final. Longview also took third in the Babe Ruth 13 Regional, won by the Spokane Expos. The Expos eliminated Longview 8-3 in the semi-final…..Sporting Kansas City beat Portland 1-0 in MLS action Sunday.

The Mariners and Cubs are underway today at Wrigley Field, KLOG 10 am…..The Bellingham Bells beat the Cowlitz Black Bears 3-1 last night. Cowlitz is off on the final road trip of the season beginning at Walla Walla tonight at 7 pm…..Jordan Kangas had two hits and three RBI’s leading the Longview Babe Ruth 13’s to an 8-7 win over Sedro Wooley yesterday at the Regional tournament in Spokane. Longview is 2-0 in pool play as action continues today. Meanwhile, the Kelso Babe Ruth 15’s get back into action today at the Regional in Camas. Kelso plays North Bend Oregon at 1 pm today. The Kelso 15’s are also 2-0 in pool play…..The Thunder Mountain Pro Rodeo continues tonight and tomorrow night…..Motorcycle racing continues tonight and tomorrow night at the Castle Rock Race Park.
