KLOG Monday Sports

The Rams won a regular season game in Los Angeles for the first time in nearly 22 years yesterday. L.A. beat the Seahawks 9-3 in a game dominated by defense. The 1-1 Hawks have lost to the Rams for the third straight time…..Seth Smith hit two homers and drove in four runs to lead the Mariners to a 7-3 victory over Houston on Sunday. The M’s are one game behind Toronto in the race for the final wild card spot and the teams will play in Seattle tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Haylee Briggs scored a goal at the 11 minute mark and the LCC Red Devils made it hold up in a 1-0 women’s soccer win over Grays Harbor in Aberdeen on Sunday…..The Huskies beat Portland State to go to 3-0 on the season but the Dawgs slipped a spot to #9 in both the AP and Coaches Poll.

The Civil War is tonight at Longview Memorial Stadium as Mark Morris tries to snap a two game losing streak to R.A. Long. The game is on FM 105.5 Cookin Country. The Kelso Hilanders are at Lake Washington in Kirkland tonight, 6:45 pm on FM 101.5 The Wave. Football Friday begins at 6 pm on the Wave…..The Huskies host Portland State at 5 pm tomorrow, FM 101.5 The Wave at 4:00 pm…..The Mariners are riding an eight game win streak as they host the Astros tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Kaylee Murray had three goals to lead Kelso to a 4-3 soccer win over Heritage last night. R.A. Long nearly pulled off a huge upset but Ridgefield scored late to win 3-2. Hockinson beat MM 3-1…..Former MM star Marv Chamberlain gets inducted into the WSU Hall of Fame tonight.

The Mariners have won eight straight after a 2-1 victory over the Angels last night. Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager hit homers to back winning pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma. Seattle is now 1 1/2 games out of the wildcard race as they take today off…..Linn Benton stayed unbeaten, but lost a set for the first time this season as they defeated the LCC volleyball team 3-1 last night…..In prep volleyball tonight, Heritage is at Kelso (5:30 pm) and 7 pm matchups include Ridgefield at R.A. Long and Mark Morris at Hockinson…..Tacoma scored on a late penalty kick to defeat the LCC women’s soccer team 2-1. Emily McCoy had the goal for the Red Devils…..In girls prep soccer tonight, Ridgefield is at R.A. Long (6 pm) and Mark Morris is at Hockinson (7 pm).

Taijuan Walker pitched a complete game three-hitter as the Mariners shutout the Angels 8-0 last night. Seattle has won seven straight as they play the Halos in Anaheim again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The LCC volleyball team hosts unbeaten Linn Benton today at 5 pm. Last night, the 12-3 Devils defeated Mt. Hood 3-1…..In prep volleyball, Woodland beat Mark Morris 3-0 and Castle Rock upended Kalama 3-1…..Kelso shutout R.A. Long 2-0 in girls soccer last night. Kaylee Murray had both goals for the Lassies. Also, MM beat Woodland 3-0 as Heaven Burr had two goals for the Monarchs….. The LCC soccer team plays at Tacoma today at 2 pm…..Kelso won a four team cross country meet in Vancouver yesterday. The MM cross country team

Leonys Martin had four hits and Robinson Cano had three hits including his 33rd homer as the Mariners beat the Angels 8-1 in Anaheim last night. Seattle has won six in a row and is now 2 1/2 games out of the last AL Wildcard spot. The teams play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The LCC volleyball team hosts Mt. Hood tonight at 6 pm…..In prep volleyball last night, Kelso took care of R.A. Long 3-1 and Mark Morris blanked Evergreen 3-0. The Monarchs host Woodland tonight at 7 pm…..In girls soccer tonight, RAL is at Kelso (7 pm) and Woodland at MM (5 pm)…..The Kelso cross country teams compete at Fort Vancouver today (4pm)…..The MM and RAL girls swim teams will host Mt. View and Evergreen this afternoon at 5 pm at Dick Mealy Memorial Pool.

Russell Wilson hit Doug Baldwin on a 2-yard TD pass with :31 left to give the Seattle Seahawks a 12-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Wilson received an ankle injury but says he should be ready to play next Sunday at the L.A. Rams…..The UW Huskies are ranked #8 in the latest AP college football poll. Washington hosts Portland State this Saturday…..The Mariners completed a sweep at Oakland with a 3-2 win over the A’s yesterday. The M’s have won five straight as they open a three game set at the Angels tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..R.A. Long hosts Kelso in girls volleyball action tonight at 7 pm. Mark Morris is at home against Evergreen, also at 7 pm…..It’s local Civil War week as MM and RAL will meet Friday night. Kelso will travel to Lake Washington in Kirkland Friday night.

West at 7 pm…..The Portland Thorns clinched a playoff berth with a 3-0 win over Houston in women’s pro soccer.

The Devils are at Walla Walla today at 12 pm…..In prep girls soccer, Natalie Brown scored two goals to lead Kelso over Woodland 3-1. Heritage downed MM 4-1…..In boys golf, Union shot a 145, Kelso a 162 and MM a 177 in a three-way at Mint Valley. Battle Ground edged RAL 159-160 at The Cedars…..The UW Huskies are up to #8 in the AP College Football Poll.
