Kristaps Porzingis scored 31 points to lead the New York Knicks to a 107-103 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers will play at Cleveland tonight, KLOG 3:05 pm…..The Huskies defeated Long Beach State 94-88 last night. Tulsa over Oregon State 75-64. Oregon beat Tennessee 6-65 at the Maui Classic. The Ducks play UConn today…..The 30th Red Devil Classic gets underway Friday at 1 pm. LCC will play Olympic Friday night at 8 pm…..The Sounders beat Colorado 2-1 last night in the first leg of the MLS West Finals. The final leg will be Sunday in Denver…..The Huskies are #5 in the latest College Football Playoff poll. The Dawgs will be in Pullman for the huge Apple Cup on Friday. WSU is #23 in the CFP poll. The top four are Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson.

The Blazers take on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden today, KLOG 3:35 pm…..There is plenty of holiday college hoops tournaments going on this week. Georgetown beat Oregon 65-61 at the Maui Classic last night. The Ducks play Tennessee today. Loyola-Chicago beat Washington State 88-79 at the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. The Huskies host Long Beach State tonight……UW reserve cornerback Darren Gardenhire has left the team three days before the Apple Cup. He says he will transfer. UW coach Chris Petersen called it a “difference in philosophies”…..The Seattle Sounders host the Colorado Rapids in the MLS Western Conference Finals tonight at 7 pm. Leg one is tonight and then the teams will meet in leg two Sunday in Denver.

The Lower Columbia College volleyball team won the NWAC Championship with a 2-0 victory over Linn Benton yesterday in Tacoma. It’s the second volleyball title in school history and it happened 25 years after the 1991 team won it. Kallie Schmit was named the tournament MVP…..The Seahawks beat the Eagles 26-15 as Russell Wilson threw for a TD and caught a TD. The Hawks have won three straight as they play at Tampa Bay on Sunday…..The Blazers snapped a three game losing streak with a 129-109 win at Brooklyn…..Marcus Lord hit a three at the buzzer in OT to give LCC a 71-70 season opening win over Peninsula on Sunday…..The LCC women took tow of three games this weekend including a 71-55 victory over Peninsula on Sunday.

The LCC volleyball team rallied to take the final six points in the 5th and deciding set to defeat Spokane 3-2 in the opening round of the NWAC Volleyball tournament. The Devils advance to play Umpqua at 10 am this morning…..The Houston Rockets blasted the Trail Blazers 126-109 last night. Portland moves on to New Orleans to play the Pelicans tonight, KLOG 4:05 pm…..The LCC women’s basketball team opens the season at home tonight against the Southwestern Oregon Lakers, klog.com at 7 pm. The Devils host CBC Saturday at 5 pm, then both LCC teams host Peninsula on Sunday, women at 12 pm and the men at 2 pm…..The Kalama girls soccer team has a 2B semi-final girls soccer match today at 2 pm against Adna. The game is at Sunset Chevy Stadium in Sumner.

The tourney runs through Sunday…..The Trail Blazers begin a four game road trip today with a game at Houston, KLOG 4:05 pm…..In college hoops last night, Lamar beat Oregon State 63-60 and Notre Dame over Seattle University 92-49. Tonight, Cal State Fullerton is at Washington, Valparaiso visits Oregon and Eastern Washington is at the Texas Longhorns…..Christine Michael was claimed on waivers by Green Bay after the Seahawks cut him on Tuesday…..The WIAA State basketball tournaments will feature seeding from a Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) for the first time. The 14-person committee includes Castle Rock’s Jeff Johnson, now A.D. at W.F. West in Chehalis.

The Seahawks waived RB Christine Michael yesterday. He was beat out by CJ Prosise and Thomas Rawls is close to returning from injury…..The UW Huskies slipped to #6 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings. Alabama is #1 followed by Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson…..The Chicago Bulls blasted the Portland Trail Blazers 113-88 last night. Jimmy Butler led the Bulls with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Damian Lillard had 19 for Portland. The Blazers are at Houston Thursday…..Baylor beat #4 Oregon 66-49 yesterday. Also, Washington State held off Central Washington 81-76 in Kennewick…..The LCC volleyball teams leaves for Tacoma today where they will get a practice session in in preparation for the NWAC Championships. The Devils open with Spokane tomorrow morning at 9 am.

The Oregon Ducks play at Baylor today at 12:30 pm and Washington State hosts Central Washington tonight at 7 pm…..The Portland Trail Blazers host Dwayne Wade and the Chicago Bulls tonight, KLOG 6:05 pm…..The Huskies and Cougars both lost key players due to injury. UW’s Hazeem Victor underwent surgery on a broken leg yesterday and WSU’s River Craycraft will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL…..The LCC Athletics Booster Club Spaghetti Feed is tonight, 5:30 pm at the LCC Student Center. It’s free for Booster Club members, $7 for others. The Red-White Basketball Scrimmages will follow at 7 pm at Myklebust Gym, a free event.

Kalama won the State 2B volleyball championship Saturday night with a 3-2 victory over Mossyrock. It’s the first volleyball State title in school history…..The Seahawks came up with a huge road victory over New England last night 31-24. The Hawks made a goal line stand at the end to preserve the win. Seattle hosts Philadelphia on Sunday…..The Huskies slip to #7 AP after Saturday’s loss to USC. The Cougars are up to #20 after destroying Cal for their 8th straight victory…..Damian Lillard scored 32 points to lead Portland to a 112-105 victory over the Denver Nuggets. The Blazers have won five of six…..Yale upset Washington 98-90 in men’s college hoops last night……The Mariners traded minor league pitcher Paul Blackburn to Oakland for veteran hitter Danny Valencia.
