The Twins shutout the Mariners 2-0 last night. Phil Hughes outdueled Chris Young in a well pitched ballgame. Game three of the four game set is tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Cowlitz Black Bears had a late night and a long bus ride, but they are back home after a 5-4 win at Walla Walla. Casey Worden’s 12th inning homer was the game winner. The Bears snapped a six game losing streak with the win. The team hosts Kitsap tomorrow night…..The Pacific Tech Senior Legion team plays at home after a two week road trip. Pac Tech takes on Mason County in a 6 pm DH at Rister Stadium…..The Timbers and Sounders meet in a U.S. Open Cup match tonight, 7:30 pm at Starfire in Tukwila…..The Portland Thorns play at Chicago today at 5 pm.

Hisashi Iwakuma pitched seven strong innings, striking out 10 in the Mariners 2-0 win over the Minnesota Twins. Mike Zunino and Michael Saunders each hit solo homers to provide the offense. The M’s and Twins play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Kyle Seager of the M’s was added to the AL All-Star roster yesterday. The game will be in Minneapolis next Tuesday…..The M’s designated backup catcher John Buck for assignment following the game, a move made on his 34th birthday…..Walla Walla scored a run in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Cowlitz Black Bears 4-3 last night. LCC’s Seaver Whalen had two hits including a clutch game tying RBI in the top of the 9th. The Bears hope to snap a six game WCL losing streak tonight at Walla Walla.

Former Mariner Hector Noesi pitched into the 7th inning and got the win as the White Sox beat the Mariners 1-0 yesterday. The M’s come home to host the Twins tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Walla Walla Sweets defeated the Cowlitz Black Bears 4-2 last night. The Bears hope to snap a five game WCL losing streak tonight in Walla Walla…..Aberdeen Longshore beat the Longview Babe Ruth 15’s 7-6 in the championship game of the Independence Day Senior Babe Ruth/Junior Legion tournament yesterday. The Longview 15’s went 3-2 and showed well against the older teams. Longview and Kelso will serve as co-hosts of the Babe Ruth World Series in August. The Mariners completed a three game sweep of Houston with a 5-2 win over the Astros yesterday. The M’s have today off before beginning a series at the White Sox on Friday…..The Cowlitz Black Bears play at Bellingham tonight. The Bears defeated the Portland Lobos 11-3 last night…..The Independence Day Senior Babe Ruth tourney got underway yesterday with the Longview 15’s over Rightline Equipment 7-3 and JH Kelly over the Kelso 15’s 7-2. Today there are four games at Rister Stadium and four games at Roy Morse Park. The tourney continues through the weekend at both locations…..The Pacific Tech Senior Legion team opened play the Twin Falls Idaho Cowboy Classic today. The tourney also runs through the weekend.

The Mariners hit five straight doubles in the sixth inning and went on to beat the Astros 13-2 last night. The M’s are looking for a sweep against Houston in a day game today, KLOG 10 am…..The Cowlitz Black Bears pounded the Portland Stars 13-2 last night. Caleb Hamilton had four hits to lead the way. The Bears host the Portland lobos tonight at 6:35 pm. There will be a fireworks show after the game…..The Lewiston Twins beat the Pacific Tech Senior Legion team 9-4 last night. Pac tech moves on to Twin Falls Idaho for a tourney starting Thursday…..The Longview Babe Ruth 15’s swept the Gorge Hustlers 13-8 and 10-6 last night. The Independence Day tourney begins today with Rightline against the Longview 15’s at 4 pm and JH Kelly versus the Kelso 15’s at 7 pm, both at Rister Stadium.

The Mariners hit four homers to back the pitching of Taijuan Walker as they beat Houston 10-4 last night. Mike Zunino, Michael Saunders, Brad Miller and Robinson Cano went deep. The M’s have won eight of 10 games. The teams play again today, KLOG 4:00 pm…..The Cowlitz Black Bears host the Portland Stars tonight in a 6:35 pm start at Story Field…..The Pacific Tech Senior Legion team is playing at Lewiston, Idaho today…..Mark Morris basketball stars Kourtney and Karley Eaton tweeted that they have verbally committed to play college ball at Cal Davis. The twins will play their senior season at MM this upcoming winter…..The Seahawks have been nominated as “Best Team” for the ESPY Awards July 16th. The Hawks compete with the Spurs, Red Sox, Kings and Florida State.

Felix Hernandez spun eight innings of one-hit ball as the Mariners beat the Cleveland Indians 3-0 on Sunday. Robinson Cano provided a two run homer. The M’s have called up pitcher Taijuan Walker to start tonight’s game at Houston, KLOG 4:00 pm…..In a game that lasted 4 hours and 25 minutes, the Victoria HarbourCats defeated the Cowlitz Black Bears 9-8. The Bears are off today before hosting the Portland Stars tomorrow night…..The Pacific Tech Senior Legion team went 6-0 to win the Boys of Summer Tourney in Belgrade, Montana. Pac Tech beat the Spokane Blue Devils 11-1 in the final. Riley Johnston was named tourney MVP…..JH Kelly went 1-4 at the Walla Walla Sweets Junior Legion tournament.

The Mariners return to action tonight as they host the Cleveland Indians, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Black Bears also had yesterday off and they will be at home tonight against Victoria. First pitch at Story Field is 6:35 pm…..The Pacific Tech Senior Legion team opened play at the Belgrade, Montana tournament with two wins. Pac Tech beat the Spokane Blue Devils 7-2 and the Rapid City Expos 4-2. Pac Tech plays the Spokane 49’ers at 5 pm today…..With no picks in the NBA Draft last night, Portland made news by offering a max extension offer to LaMarcus Aldridge. The Blazers hope to sign him to a 5-year deal worth $108 million. As for the Draft, Husky guard C.J. Wilcox was selected by the L.A. Clippers with the 28th overall pick.
