Kalama won the State 2B volleyball championship Saturday night with a 3-2 victory over Mossyrock. It’s the first volleyball State title in school history…..The Seahawks came up with a huge road victory over New England last night 31-24. The Hawks made a goal line stand at the end to preserve the win. Seattle hosts Philadelphia on Sunday…..The Huskies slip to #7 AP after Saturday’s loss to USC. The Cougars are up to #20 after destroying Cal for their 8th straight victory…..Damian Lillard scored 32 points to lead Portland to a 112-105 victory over the Denver Nuggets. The Blazers have won five of six…..Yale upset Washington 98-90 in men’s college hoops last night……The Mariners traded minor league pitcher Paul Blackburn to Oakland for veteran hitter Danny Valencia.

The Kelso Hilanders square off with the Meadowdale Mavericks in the 3A State Football Playoffs tonight at Edmonds Stadium, 5:45 pm on FM 101.5 The Wave…..The State volleyball tournaments are underway in Lacey and Yakima, running through tomorrow night…..The State girls swimming championships are also underway in Federal Way…..The Kalama girls soccer team has a State playoff game with LaConner today at 4 pm, at Mt. Vernon…..The LCC men’s basketball team will have a scrimmage game with the Seattle Mountaineers Saturday at 3 pm…..The Portland Trail Blazers host the Sacramento Kings at Moda Center tonight, KLOG 6:05 pm…..The Washington Huskies host USC tomorrow, KLOG 3:30 pm. ESPN College Game Day is also in Seattle, KLOG 7:00 am.

The Blazers held off the Phoenix Suns 124-121 last night. Damian Lillard scored 22 of his 38 points in the 4th quarter. CJ McCollum had 18 of his 33 in the first quarter. Portland takes on the Clippers in Los Angeles tonight, KLOG 6:35 pm…..The Washington Huskies move into the #4 spot in the College Football Playoff Rankings released last night. Alabama, Clemson and Michigan have the top three positions…..Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says safety Kam Chancellor is back at full strength and will be available to play Sunday night at New England. Chancellor has missed the last four weeks with a groin injury…..The LCC volleyball team closes out the regular season tonight with a 7 pm road match at South Puget Sound in Olympia. A Devil win will clinch at least a share of the West Region title.

Black, 59, signed a three-year deal…..The Mariners traded reliever Vidal Nuno to the Dodgers for veteran catcher Carlos Ruiz. Ruiz will be counted on to provide leadership as Mike Zunino’s backup.

The Lassies open 3A Bi-District Friday in Yelm against Central Kitsap…..The Kelso girls soccer team opens 3A Bi-District action today at Mt. Tahoma HS. Kelso takes on Yelm at 5:30 pm. The R.A. Long girls soccer team hopes to stay alive in the 2A District with a win over Hockinson tonight. The game is at 7 pm at Battle Ground.
