KLOG Monday Sports

The Saints beat the Seahawks 25-20 yesterday. The Hawks were flagged 11 times and the Saints had just two penalties. Seattle will try and bounce back a week from tonight when they host the Buffalo Bills in Monday Night Football…..The Huskies are ranked #4 again in both major college football polls after Saturday’s win at Utah. The Cougs win at Oregon State has WSU ranked #25 in both polls…..The day and time for Kelso’s football playoff at Seattle Prep will be set today, either Friday or Saturday in Seattle…..The Seattle Sounders rolled FC Dallas 3-0 last night in the first of the two aggregate playoff series…..The Kelso HS volleyball and girls cross country teams won WIAA Academic State titles. Wahkiakum volleyball and 3 Rivers boys cross country also took academic state titles.

Game three of the World Series is today at Chicago, KLOG 4:00 pm…..The Clippers beat the Blazers 114-109 last night. Portland will be at Denver tomorrow night…..Kelso plays an earlier football game today with a 5 pm kickoff at Hudson’s Bay, FM 101.5 The Wave at 4:00 pm. Also, R.A. Long hosts Hockinson and Mark Morris is at Woodland…..Mark Morris beat R.A. Long 3-2 in Civil War volleyball last night…..The LCC volleyball teams is at Tacoma tonight at 7 pm…..The R.A. Long girls soccer teams opens 2A District play at Tumwater tomorrow at 1 pm. Last night Washougal beat MM 4-1…..The LCC soccer team closes the season tomorrow night at Bellevue (6 pm)…..The big Pac-12 football showdown tomorrow has the Huskies at Utah, KLOG 11:30 am.

The Series shifts to Chicago for game three Friday night…..The Trail Blazers host the Clippers tonight, KLOG 6:05 pm…..The LCC volleyball team won its ninth straight league match with a 3-0 sweep over Green River…..The Kelso volleyball team beat Mountain View 3-1 on Senior Night. It’s Civil War volleyball tonight as Mark Morris is at home against R.A. Long…..Pierce defeated Lower Columbia 4-1 in women’s soccer yesterday…..In girls soccer tonight, Mark Morris at Washougal…..The Seahawks released veteran running back C.J. Spiller and re-signed fullback Will Tukuafu…..It’s loser out tonight in the MLS playoffs as the Seattle Sounders host Sporting Kansas City.

The Indians blanked the Cubs 6-0 in game one of the World Series last night. Corey Kluber and two relievers combined on the shutout. Game two is tonight in Cleveland, KLOG 3:00 pm…..The Trail Blazers set an NBA record with a 16th straight home opening win last night, 113-104. Damian Lillard scored 39 points to lead the way. Portland hosts the Clippers tomorrow night…..R.A. Long beat Mark Morris 1-0 in Civil War girls soccer last night. The match was decided on a penalty kick shootout won 4-2 by the Jills. Also, Prairie beat Kelso 3-0 as Kelso takes the #3 seed to the playoffs…..The LCC women’s soccer team takes on Pierce in Tacoma today at 12:00 pm…..The LCC volleyball team hosts Green River tonight at 7 pm…..In prep v-ball, River swept RAL and Washougal blanked MM.

Long meet in Civil War girls soccer tonight. The game will be at Longview Memorial Stadium at 7 pm. Last night Kelso defeated Evergreen 2-1…..Prairie beat Kelso in straight sets to win the GSHL 3A title. Kelso will go to the postseason as the #2 seed. Tonight in volleyball, Mark Morris is at Washougal and R.A. Long hosts Columbia River, both at 7 pm…..The West Coast League released its 2017 schedule yesterday. The Cowlitz Black Bears begin their eighth season June 1st at home against Thurston County. A new team this season is the Port Angeles Lefties.

The Seahawks and Cardinals ended up in a 3-3 tie last night. Steven Hauschka missed a 28-yard FG with :07 left in overtime. It’s the Hawks first tie in franchise history. Seattle is at New Orleans on Sunday…..The Washington Huskies are ranked #4 in the latest AP College Football poll. The Dawgs have a huge game at Utah on Saturday…..The Portland Timbers failed to make the playoffs after a 4-1 loss at Vancouver yesterday. The defending MLS champs did not have a road win the entire season. Meanwhile, the Seattle Sounders defeated Real Salt Lake 2-1 to clinch a playoff spot. The Sounders host Sporting Kansas City Thursday night…..Erik Grimes of R.A. Long won the District boys tennis title on Saturday, sending him to the State 2A tournament in the spring.

R.A. Long golfers Troy Parrish and Zach Kochis qualified for the 2A State tournament next spring with strong showings at the District event at Mint Valley. Parrish was 4th and Kochis 9th…..Ridgefield won both the boys and girls District cross country titles at Lake Sacajawea yesterday…..The boys 2A District tennis tourney gets underway today and goes through tomorrow at the Mint Valley Racquet Complex…..Prep football week eight tonight features Evergreen at Kelso (FM 101.5 The Wave), Columbia River at Mark Morris (FM 105.5 KUKN) and R.A. Long at Ridgefield….In prep volleyball last night, Kelso beat Fort 3-1, Ridgefield over MM 3-1 and Hockinson beat RAL 3-1…..Kelso and Mt. View ended up tied 1-1 in girls soccer. Also, Hockinson over RAL 1-0 and Ridgefield beat MM 4-1.

The Kelso Lassie cross country team won the 3A District meet yesterday. The Kelso boys were second. The 2A District meet is at 4 pm today at Lake Sacajawea…..Four Jacks and three Kings advanced to the final round of the 2A District boys golf tournament. Troy Parrish led RAL with a 77 and Blake Hardeman shot an 80 for MM. The final round is underway today at Mint Valley…..LCC is alone in first place after a 3-0 volleyball sweep over Pierce last night. The Devils are now 7-1 in the West division…..In prep volleyball tonight, Kelso is at Fort, RAL at Hockinson and Ridgefield at MM…..Green River beat LCC 3-0 in college soccer yesterday…..In girls soccer today, MM hosts Ridgefield (4:30pm), RAL is at Hockinson (7pm) and Kelso hosts Mt. View (7pm).

The R.A. Long girls soccer team defeated Washougal 1-0 last night in a match that went to an epic penalty kick shootout. The Jills missed the first PK then rattled off 10 straight to take the match. Also, Columbia River defeated Mark Morris 4-0 and Kaylee Murray had two goals to lead Kelso over Hudson’s Bay 3-1…..The LCC soccer team plays at Green River today at 4 pm…..The LCC volleyball team host Pierce at 7 pm tonight…..In prep volleyball last night, Kelso swept Evergreen 3-0, Washougal downed RAL 3-1 and Columbia River defeated Mark Morris 3-0…..The Hilander Hoop Club will be having girls and boys tryouts this Sunday and Monday at the Kelso High Gym. The Indians beat the Blue Jays 4-2 last night to take a 3-0 lead in the ALCS. The Tribe can wrap it up with a win today, KLOG 12:00 pm. Game three of the NLCS is today in Los Angeles, KLOG 4:00 pm. The Dodgers and Cubs are tied 1-1…..The Seahawks next opponent is the Arizona Cardinals and they beat the Jets 28-3 last night. Carson Palmer had to leave the game with a hamstring pull…..In prep volleyball tonight, Evergreen is at Kelso, Washougal at R.A. Long and Mark Morris visits Columbia River, all at 7 pm…..In girls soccer tonight, Hudson’s Bay is at Kelso (7pm), Mark Morris at Columbia River (7pm) and Washougal at RAL (6pm)…..In girls swimming yesterday, Kelso beat RAL 121-48 and Mark Morris downed Kelso 92-78.
