The Hawks win with the Giants and Bucs losses means a playoff berth for the 4th straight season…..The Blazers lost at Miami 116-109 yesterday. Portland turns around and plays at Atlanta tonight, KLOG 4:05 pm…..R.A. Long’s Gunnar Blix got the start and played on the winning team as the West beat the East 21-14 in the Blue Grey All-American Bowl in Arlington, Texas yesterday…..Tonight in boys hoops, W.F. West visits R.A. Long…..In girls basketball, Kelso is at Camas and Mark Morris at Lebanon, OR…..The LCC men’s basketball team won two of three games and took third place at the Lane Crossover tournament in Eugene.

Long hosts Toledo…..The RAL Lumberjills beat Fort Vancouver 67-44 and Woodland beat the Mark Morris girls 42-36…..The LCC men’s hoop team defeated Peninsula 79-69 at the Lane Crossover in Eugene yesterday. The Devils take on Clark at 4 pm today…..The Blazers take on Orlando this afternoon, KLOG 3:05 pm…..Gunnar Blix is set to play for the West in the Blue Gray prep football game Saturday in Dallas…..Mark Morris beat R.A. Long by 45 pins in the Civil War girls bowling match yesterday…..The Kelso wrestling program has athletes competing in the Tri-State tournament in Coeur d’Alene.

Tonight, Mark Morris hosts Woodland (FM 101.5 The Wave 6:45 pm)…..In girls play tonight, RAL is at home against Fort, Mark Morris is at Woodland, Kalama visits Castle Rock and Wishkah Valley at Three Rivers…..The Kelso wrestling team won its home opener with a 71-10 win over Centralia last night…..The Seahawks have signed Christine Michael to help at running back. Michael is a former Seattle player who knows the playbook.

Long Lumberjacks to a 61-55 win over Hockinson. Woodland edged Ridgefield 57-56. The Beavers will play at Kelso tonight…..In girls play, the Kelso Lassies are Black Hills, KLOG 6:55 pm. R.A. Long is at Hockinson. Last night Prairie defeated Mark Morris 69-26…..MM will hand over the head baseball coaching reigns to Jason Mackey who replaces Bryce Richards who resigned this off season.

Idaho won the Battle of the Palouse men’s basketball game for the second straight year, downing the WSU Cougars 78-74 last night. Big time opponents tomorrow as UCLA is at Gonzaga, and Oregon State at Kansas. The UW men host Montana tomorrow at 3 pm…..The LCC men’s game with Multnomah was postponed last night and the game will not be played tonight. It will be made up at a later date……The LCC women begin play at the Everett tournament today at 4 pm against SW Oregon…..The Mark Morris girls host Centralia at 7 pm tonight. The MM boys will move to LCC for a 6 pm make-up with Hudson’s Bay. The Kelso games with Heritage were postponed…..The Blazers are in Phoenix to play the Suns tonight, KLOG 5:35 pm.

The LCC women’s basketball team had to take the long way home last night after they lost at Clark 84-56. The Devils went to Seaside, through Astoria and back along Highway 30 arriving this morning at 1:30 am. The Devils play at the Everett tournament this weekend…..The LCC men are slated to host Multnomah tonight at 7 pm, pending the situation on I-5…..The local prep sports schedule will be reduced tonight due to the school closures today…..Last night Makayla Gardner scored 26 points to lead Toutle Lake to a 63-25 win over Mossyrock. The Wahkiakum girls beat Pe Ell 64-17…..The Mariners acquired first baseman Adam Lind from the Milwaukee Brewers for three teenage minor league pitchers.

Damian Lillard also had 33 for Portland…..Andrew Andrews scored 32 to lead the Huskies over TCU 92-67 last night. Gonzaga held off Montana 61-58…..Carissa Cannon scored 19 to lead the LCC women to a 68-41 win at Portland. The Devils play at Clark tonight at 6 pm…..The Kelso boys go to 2-0 after a 72-50 win over Mountain View last night. The Scots game at Woodland tonight was postponed, as are most of the local sports contests…..Six former Red Devils will be honored into the LCC Hall of Fame Saturday January 30th. Dani (Bisel) Anderson, Tim Mackin, Bill Dunlap, Terry Jones, Michelle (DeVries) Mury and Jim Baker are the latest to be inducted.
