The Seahawks scored 20 points in the 4th quarter to rally for a 23-21 win over the Oakland Raiders in the final NFL Pre-Season game. The Hawks host the Dolphins a week from Sunday…..Minnesota beat Oregon State 30-23 in college football last night. The Huskies open the season tomorrow against Rutgers, KLOG 10:00 am. WSU hosts Eastern Washington tomorrow night…..The prep football season opens tonight with Mark Morris at Kelso, FM 101.5 The Wave and FM 105.5 KUKN at 6:45 pm. R.A. Long opens the season at Centralia. Kalama visits Woodland and Castle Rock is at Ridgefield…..LCC won its 5th straight match in a 3-0 victory over Clackamas last night…..Columbia Basin defeated the LCC women’s soccer team 2-0……The M’s host the Angels, KLOG 6:00 pm.

The Texas Rangers beat the Mariners 14-1 yesterday to complete a sweep and increase it’s division lead over Seattle to 11 1/2 games. Felix Hernandez gave up a grand slam and lasted just four innings. The M’s have the day off before hosting the Angels tomorrow night…..The Seahawks last Pre-Season game is tonight at Oakland, 7 pm kickoff…..The Oregon State football team opens the season at Minnesota tonight at 6 pm…..The LCC soccer team blasted Chemeketa 9-3 yesterday as Emily McCoy had two goals and two assists to lead the way. The Devils host Columbia Basin today, 3 pm at Northlake Field…..The LCC volleyball team swept Columbia Basin 3-0 yesterday. LCC hosts Clackamas tonight at 7 pm…..Boys golf jamborees are going on today at Three Rivers and Lewis River.

Rougned Odor hit a walk-off, two-run homer off M’s closer Edwin Diaz giving the Texas Rangers an 8-7 win last night. Seattle falls 10 1/2 games behind the Rangers in the AL West. The teams play again today, KLOG 10:00 am. Felix Hernandez will pitch for the M’s…..The Seahawks cut nine players to get the roster down to 75. The most notable were center Patrick Lewis and WR Kevin Smith. Kelso’s Colin Kelly is still with the 49’ers has he makes the 75 man roster…..The LCC volleyball team defeated Chemeketa 3-2 in an exciting match yesterday. Rachel Erickson led the way with 18 kills and 16 digs. The Devils host Columbia Basin today at 3 pm…..The LCC soccer team has a home match at 1 pm today. The Devils take on Chemeketa at Northlake Field.

The Mariners lost for the sixth time in seven games as Texas beat Seattle 6-3 last night. Yu Darvish outpitched Hisashi Iwakuma. The M’s are now 9 1/2 games behind the Rangers in the AL West as the teams play again tonight, KLOG 4:00 pm…..Multiple reports say the Seahawks will cut Brandon Browner from the roster later today. Browner was an original member of the Legion of Boom and was trying to return to the team after stints in New England and New Orleans. The Hawks must get down from 90 players to 75 players today.…..The LCC volleyball team has a busy week with three home matches starting this afternoon at 5 pm against Chemeketa. The Devils host Columbia Basin at 3pm tomorrow and Clackamas Thursday night at 7 pm.

The White Sox beat the Mariners 4-1 yesterday. Chicago takes three of the four games knocking Seattle 8 1/2 games behind Texas in the AL West. The M’s can gain some ground when they play the Rangers three times in Arlington starting today, KLOG 4:00 pm…..The Portland Timbers scored four first half goals and held on to beat the Seattle Sounders 4-2 yesterday…..Taylor Sweeney scored a goal and assisted on another as LCC defeated Skagit Valley 2-0 in women’s soccer at the NWAC Fall Festival on Sunday. The Devils lost 1-0 to Yakima Valley on Saturday…..In volleyball at the NWAC Fall Festival, LCC went 4-2 over the two days. Sunday the Devils beat SW Oregon 2-0 and then beat Columbia Basin 3-1. LCC hosts Chemeketa Tuesday afternoon at 5 pm.

Russell Wilson went 16 for 21 for 192 yards and two TD’s as the Seahawks beat the Cowboys 27-17 in NFL Pre-Season football last night…..The Mariners gave up a 6-3 lead and lost to the Chicago White Sox 7-6 last night. Felix Hernandez goes up against Chris Sale in a big-time pitching matchup today, KLOG 4:00 pm…..The R.A. Long football Red-Black scrimmage is at 7 pm tonight at Longview Memorial Stadium. The Kelso Blue-Gold game is tomorrow morning at 10 am. The MM Blue-White scrimmage is tomorrow morning at 9 am…..The LCC volleyball team has six matches over Saturday and Sunday at the NWAC Fall Festival in Eugene. The LCC soccer team is also in Eugene with games Saturday and Sunday.

The Yankees blanked the Mariners 5-0 yesterday. New York took two of three games in Seattle. The Mariners head out on a seven game road trip including four in Chicago starting today, KLOG 4:00 pm. James Paxton will pitch for Seattle against the White Sox. The M’s are three out of the final AL Wildcard, 6 1/2 games behind AL West leading Texas…..The Seahawks host the Dallas Cowboys in NFL Pre-Season action tonight. Rookie Ezekiel Elliot makes his debut for the Cowboys…..The Wahkiakum School Board will allow 8th graders to play varsity football this season. The Mules had just 18 players out for football. The WIAA allows school with enrollment under 104 to play 8th graders…..The Sounders got a stoppage time goal by Nicolas Lodiero to get a 1-1 tie at Houston last night.

CC Sabathia pitched seven strong innings and Jacoby Ellsbury hit a two-run homer as the New York Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners 5-1 last night. The Yankees held the M’s to just four hits in the game. There will be high interest in Japan today as Hisashi Iwakuma of the Mariners pitches against Masahiro Tanaka of the Yanks, KLOG 11:30 am…..Rookie RB C.J. Prosise is set to make his Seahawks debut tomorrow night when Seattle hosts the Dallas Cowboys in NFL Pre-Season action. Prosise has been battling a hamstring injury…..Scott Witt passed away earlier this month at the age of 94. Witt was a talented multi-sport athlete at R.A. Long (1940) including a two-time state champion high jumper. He went on to WSU where he was assistant A.D. for four years.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored four runs in the top of the 9th inning to shock the Mariners 7-6 yesterday. The M’s gave young closer Edwin Diaz the day off and Tom Wilhelmsen couldn’t close it. The Mariners also had defensive lapses that contributed to the loss. Seattle hosts the New York Yankees tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Clint Dempsey scored two goals to lead the Seattle Sounders to a 3-1 win over the Portland Timbers. Seattle is within two points of the Timbers in the chase for the playoffs. The teams will play again next Sunday in Portland…..The Washington Huskies are ranked #14 in the AP Pre-Season College Football Poll. Oregon is ranked #24. Alabama is ranked #1 going into the season.

The Vikings defeated the Seahawks 18-11 in NFL Pre-Season action last night. With the score tied and just two minutes left, Trevoyne Boykin was intercepted by Marcus Sherels and he returned it 53 yards for the decisive score. The Hawks are 1-1 as they host the Dallas Cowboys next Thursday night……The L.A. Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 6-4 last night. The big hit was a two-run double by Albert Pujols in the 8th inning. The M’s got homers from Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz and Adam Lind. Seattle is home tonight against Milwaukee, KLOG 6:00 pm. The M’s are 2 1/2 games behind Boston for the second AL Wild Card spot…..The Mint Valley Golf Course is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a fun scramble event at 4 pm this afternoon.
