The Timbers won Portland’s first men’s pro sports championship since the ‘77 Blazers when they beat Columbus 2-1yesterday to take the MLS Cup. The Timbers are set to arrive at PDX at 2:20 pm this afternoon…..The Seahawks crushed Minnesota 38-7 as Russell Wilson had three TD passes and a TD run. The Hawks are at Baltimore on Sunday…..The Bowl games are set. The Huskies play Southern Mississippi in the Heart of Dallas Bowl December 26th, at the same time the WSU Cougars play Miami in the Sun Bowl…..Chemeketa defeated the LCC men 83-70 on Sunday, snapping the Red Devils four game win streak. Skagit Valley beat the LCC women 73-68 Sunday at the Bellevue tournament…..The Kelso girls basketball team plays at Mountain View tonight at 7 pm.

The Blazers snapped the Pacers six game win streak with a 123-11 victory last night. Portland goes on the road starting tomorrow at the Minnesota Timberwolves, KLOG 4:05 pm…..The LCC men’s basketball team hosts the Kirkpatrick Family Care Regional Classic Saturday and Sunday. Chemeketa and Bellevue play at 6 pm Saturday followed by the Red Devils and Wenatchee Valley at 8 pm…..Kelso hosts R.A. Long in boys prep hoops tonight, KLOG 6:55 pm. Also tonight, Mark Morris is at W.F. West, FM 101.5 The Wave at 6:45 pm…..In girls play tonight, RAL hosts Heritage. Last night Union defeated the MM girls 56-46…..The Seahawks have a huge NFC game Sunday, 10 am at Minnesota…..The Timbers are at Columbus for the MLS championship Sunday at 1 pm.

Gonzaga defeated a stubborn WSU team 69-60 in college hoops last night. The Lower Columbia men’s team came up with a road win over Portland 85-81. Lawrence Russell led the Red Devils with 23 points…..In boys prep hoops, Mark Morris downed Skyview 66-58 as Will Burghardt led the way with 21 points. R.A. Long beat Rochester 70-45 as Marcus Maryott had 16 for the Jacks…..In girls hoops tonight, Union is at Mark Morris…..The GSHL boys swimming jamboree is at Mark Morris today at 5 pm…..The Blazers host the red hot Indiana Pacers tonight, KLOG 6:05 pm…..Russell Wilson was named the NFC Player of the Week for his exploits against the Steelers…..The Mariners signed pitcher Justin De Fratus who comes from the Phillies.

Blazer fans gave Wes Matthews a great ovation in his return to Portland for the first time since signing with the Mavs…..The LCC men’s basketball team plays at Portland CC tonight at 7 pm. Also tonight, Gonzaga is at WSU…..In girls prep hoops, R.A. Long defeated Kelso 47-39 as Mya Kirzy had 16 for the Jills. Also, Skyview beat the Mark Morris girls 66-14…..Tonight in boys basketball, Skyview is at Mark Morris and R.A. Long travels to Rochester…..The R.A. Long wrestling team opens the season at home tonight, 7 pm against W.F. West…..The Mariners traded Mark Trumbo to Baltimore for catcher/first baseman Steve Clevenger.

The Trail Blazers lost to the Clippers last night 102-87 as Damian Lillard was subpar due to a stomach illness. We’ll see if he can play tonight as Portland hosts Dallas, KLOG 6:05 pm…..High school basketball action began last night. In girls play, Elma beat Castle Rock 66-28 and Naselle downed Three Rivers 53-35. Tonight, R.A. Long visits Kelso and Skyview takes on Mark Morris, FM 101.5 The Wave at 6:45 pm…..At the MM boys jamboree last night, Kelso and Mark Morris tied 17-17, Kelso beat Toutle Lake 21-19 and MM over TL 21-18…..Oregon Ducks offensive coordinator Scott Frost has been named head coach at Central Florida…..The week 14 Seahawks game at Baltimore has been flexed out of Sunday Night Football and will instead kickoff at 10 am PST.

The Portland Timbers advanced to the MLS Cup championship match after a 2-2 tie with FC Dallas yesterday. Portland will be at Columbus for the title game Sunday at 1 pm…..Russel Wilson threw five TD passes, three to Doug Baldwin in a wild 39-30 win over Pittsburgh yesterday. The Hawks are now 6-5 and in the playoff mix as they play at Minnesota on Sunday…..The Trail Blazers take on the Clippers in Los Angeles tonight, KLOG 6:35 pm……Devin Johnson scored 20 points to lead LCC to a 71-54 victory over Mt. Hood in the final day of the Red Devil Classic. LCC won two of three games in the tourney, won by Spokane…..Kelso’s Colin Kelly started at right tackle for Ottawa in the 103rd Grey Cup game last night. Edmonton beat Ottawa 26-20 in the Canadian pro football title game.

The Chicago Bulls snapped a seven game losing streak at Portland with a 93-88 victory over the Blazers. Portland hosts the Lakers on Saturday…..The Huskies and Zags are playing this morning in the Bahamas, KLOG 9:00 am. Last night Washington State beat Cal State-Los Angeles 74-57 and Valparaiso beat Oregon State 63-57…..The Red Devil Classic begins Friday at 1 pm, an eight team college men’s tournament. The LCC men will play SW Oregon Friday night at 8 pm. The tourney runs through Sunday…..Marshawn Lynch will miss about a month as he undergoes surgery for a sports hernia today, according to the NFL Network. The Hawks re-signed Bryce Brown for RB depth as they host the Steelers Sunday…..The Apple Cup on KLOG Friday at 11:30 am, kickoff at 12:30 pm.

The Warriors shoot for an NBA record 16th straight win to start the season when they play the Lakers tonight…..The Mariners have signed free agent catcher Chris Ianetta to a one-year contract. New G.M. Jerry Dipoto says Ianetta will be the primary starter and Mike Zunino will be the backup. Ianetta is coming off a tough season where he hit .188 with 10 homers for the Angels…..Former M’s manager Lloyd McClendon has been named the Tigers AAA manager in Toledo…..Longview Babe Ruth will have a board meeting tonight at 6 pm in the batting cages at Roy Morse Park…..In girls bowling today, Mark Morris takes on Evergreen at Big Al’s in Vancouver.

Rookie Thomas Rawls rushed for 209 yards to lead the Seahawks to a 29-13 win over the 49’ers. It was the second most single game yards for a Seahawks back in team history. The Hawks host the Steelers Sunday at 1:30 pm…..Damian Lillard scored 30 points to lead Portland to a 107-93 win over the L.A. Lakers. The Bulls visit Portland tomorrow night…..The LCC women’s basketball team won two and lost one at home over the weekend. After wins over SW Oregon and Columbia Basin, the Devils lost to Peninsula 72-51 on Sunday. Meanwhile, the LCC men’s team lost at Everett Sunday, 83-66. Bellevue beat the Devils on Saturday. The LCC men open the home schedule Friday night in day one of the Red Devil Classic…..The Timbers beat FC Dallas 3-1 in the MLS playoffs.

The LCC volleyball team is still alive at the NWAC Championships in Tacoma. After a 3-1 loss to Bellevue, the Devils defeated SW Oregon 2-1 to avoid elimination. LCC will play at 4:45 pm this afternoon…..The LCC women’s basketball team opens the season at home tonight against SW Oregon. Tip off is 7 pm. The Devils host Columbia Basin Saturday at 3 pm and host Peninsula at 1 pm Sunday, all on klog.com…..The LCC men’s team opens the season with a 2 pm road game at Bellevue Saturday, then a 2 pm game at Everett on Sunday…..The UW Husky hoop team crushed Mt. St. Mary’s 100-67 last night…..The Blazers try and snap a seven game losing streak when they host the Clippers tonight, KLOG 6:05 pm…..The UW football team is at OSU tomorrow, KLOG 2:00 pm.
