The Mariners return to action today as they take on the Rays at Tampa Bay, KLOG 3:00 pm. The Rays have lost 10 straight. The Mariners selected high school outfielders Alex Jackson and Gareth Morgan in the first two round of the MLB Draft. The selections continue today…..Austin Baker hit a walk-off two-run homer to give the Cowlitz Black Bears a 10-9 win over the Portland Ports. The Bears host the Medford Rogues for three games starting tonight at 7:05 pm…..In Senior Babe Ruth, RBI defeated JH Kelly 11-8 yesterday…..The Rainier Columbians are playing for a second straight 3A Oregon softball title when they take on Vale in the championship game today. The first pitch is 4 pm at the Oregon State Softball Complex in Corvallis.

The Mariners focus on today’s MLB Amateur Draft as they have a day off. The M’s shutout the Braves 2-0 yesterday, their 5th straight win. Seattle opens a four game set at Tampa Bay tomorrow…..The Cowlitz Black Bears open another season of collegiate summer baseball tonight as they host the Portland Ports, 6:35 pm at Story Field…..Max Tilton and Jose Hinojosa combined on a five hit shutout as Pacific Tech defeated Gig Harbor 6-0 in Senior Legion Baseball last night…..LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard were both named to the All-NBA third team yesterday. The NBA Finals begin tonight with Miami at San Antonio, KLOG 5:00 pm…..Russell Wilson has a number to go by next year after 49’ers QB Colin Kaepernick signs a six year, $110 million contract.

Rainier will have a chance to defend its Oregon 3A softball title when they take on Vale for the championship Friday afternoon, 4 pm at Oregon State. The Columbians edged Dayton 1-0 in the semi-finals yesterday…..The Mariners rallied to beat the Atlanta Braves 7-5 last night. John Buck had three hits including a homer. The M’s and Braves are playing a day game today…..Pacific Tech hosts Gig Harbor in the Senior Legion home opener today. The action begins at 6 pm at Rister Stadium in Kelso. JH Kelly beat Castle Rock Prep 21-5 in Junior Legion action. Isaac Kjose hit a grand slam…..Players are starting to show up for another season of West Coast league baseball as the Cowlitz Black Bears host the Portland Ports tomorrow night at 6:30 pm.

Kyle Seager had a homer, two triples and a double to lead the Mariners to a 10-2 victory over the Yankees. Felix Hernandez won his 5th straight and is now 8-1 on the season. The M’s take on the Braves in Atlanta today, KLOG 3:00 pm…..Mississippi defeated Washington 3-2 in 10 innings in the final of the NCAA baseball Oxford regional. The Huskies turn around season comes to a close. UC-Irvine upset Oregon State 4-2 in the championship of the Corvallis regional. The top seeded Beavers season comes to a sudden end…..The Rainier softball team is at Dayton today in the semi-finals of the Oregon 3A tournament…..In junior Legion ball, the Castle Rock Prep team hosts JH Kelly in a 5:30 pm game…..Seahawks LB Bruce Irvin underwent hip surgery and will be out two months.

Roenis Elias pitched a complete game three-hitter as the Mariners beat the Tigers 4-0 Sunday. The M’s have a one game makeup at the Yankees today, KLOG 3:00 pm…..Washington has to beat Ole Miss twice and Oregon State hosts UC Irvine in a single game as both teams try to advance to the NCAA Super Regional today. The Oregon baseball team lost to Vanderbilt 3-2 and were ousted from the tourney…..The Oregon Ducks were eliminated by Alabama at the College Softball World Series…..Vancouver defeated Portland 4-3 in MLS soccer last night. The Whitecaps took advantage of two penalty kicks to get the win.…..The Toutle Lake Fighting Ducks won the 2B softball championship Saturday with a 6-2 win over Napavine.

Mariah Horton of Kelso won the state 3A javelin title, tossing the spear 133’2”. Kortney Crawford also finished 14th, with a throw of 109’4”. The KHS 4×400 relay advanced out of the prelims with an 8th-place finish…..At the 2A, Aaron Brumbaugh of MM finished 5th in the 1600, while Brandon Ziegler of RAL placed 6th in the long jump…..The Woodland Boys win the 1A State Golf title with a team score of 91.50. Ryan Sturdivan led the way with a 3rd-place tie, shooting 150 over the two days of competition…..Seattle loses to the Angels 7-5 last night, and will now host Detroit for a three-game series, KLOG coverage at 6 pm…..Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is apparently the winner of the LA Clippers auction, as he agrees to shell out $2 billion for the team.

Long advanced to the final round of the 2A tourney…..Felix Hernandez missed the shutout and the complete game, but he was dominant in the Mariners 3-1 win over the Angels. The teams close out the four game series tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Cascade Christian beat Rainier 7-0 and Blanchet Catholic downed Clatskanie 8-4 at the 3A State baseball playoffs…..In the Oregon 3A softball playoffs, Rainer advanced with a 7-0 win over Harrisburg and Dayton ousted Clatskanie 10-0…..The 3A and 2A State track championships begin today in Tacoma…..Husky basketball legend Bob Houbregs passed away at 82.

The four game series is tied 1-1 as Felix Hernandez goes against CJ Wilson tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The WIAA State golf tournaments are underway in various locations. Kelso’s Logan Davis and Blain Gilmore are playing at Tri-Mountain while Kayli Thompson competes at Lewis River. In the 2A action in Tacoma, Dave Belt of MM and Tyler Messinger of RAL are playing at Chambers Bay while Shelby Stanwood of MM and Cara Caldwell of RAL are competing at The Classic course…..In Oregon 3A State baseball, Rainier plays at Cascade Christian in Medford today while Clatskanie hosts Blanchet Catholic. In 3A State softball, Rainier hosts Harrisburg and Clatskanie is at Dayton.

The Mariners beat the Angels 5-1 yesterday as Chris Young got the win and Robinson Cano had three hits and two RBI’s. The M’s and Halos play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Edmonds defeated Bellevue 7-6 to win the NWAACC baseball title yesterday at Story Field. It’s the 7th NWAACC baseball title for the Tritons…..Oregon State is the top national seed and will host an NCAA baseball regional this weekend. The Beavers open with North Dakota State. Washington will travel to Oxford, Mississippi for a regional with Georgia Tech as the opening opponent. Oregon will play in a regional at Nashville and take on Clemson…..The Seattle Seahawks have three practice sessions this week known as OTA’s, or organized team activities.

Yesterday. Bellevue edged Clark 8-7, Treasure Valley over Tacoma 4-2, Edmonds beat Lane 8-0 and Pierce over Columbia Basin 5-0. Action continues all day today and through the weekend…..R.A. Long lost to Capital 3-2 and then stayed alive with a 10-0 win over Washougal at the 2A District softball tournament. The Jills play a loser out game with Ridgefield today at 4 pm…..The track Regionals and Districts continue today in track and field. The 3A is at Sumner, the 2A at Olympia and the 1A in Vancouver…..The Seahawks sign draft picks Justin Britt and Garrett Scott, both tackles.
